Ocean Beach big surf

I took a bike ride over to OB this afternoon to check out the surf after seeing the high surf warnings on NOA's weather web-sight.  I'd guess these breaking waves are about 12 ft high.

McGinty Mountain gold prospect tunnels

Today my friend Jimmy and I went hiking near his house in Jamul, CA up nearby McGinty Mountain.  Long ago it was thought that here was gold the region around McGinty Mountian.  There are a number of horizontal prospect shafts that can be seen today.  The picture at the right is one of the three that we visited on today's hike.

I usually won't go in these abandoned shafts but this one looked pretty safe so I went about 50 ft into the 100 ft long tunnel.
