Fremont Solstice Festival

I'm a little late with this but the weekend of June 18th and 19th was the Fremont Solstice Festival that takes place in my neighborhood every year.  As you can see it was a bit gray and misty for the parade on Saturday.  I can't remember it raining on parade day before...

The weather being what it was I arrived about an hour after the parade had started and only hung around for a half hour or so.

On Sunday my friend Anya and I headed down to the festival to cruise the vendors booths and see what was happening.  It was interesting that there were lots of people producing things for sale made from recycled materials.  Here's Anya showing off a journal made from a recycled old Dr Seuss book.

This is a bike messenger bag made from old bicycle inner tubes.

I'm often amazed at the high quality of musicians I see, who are not professionals, playing at these kinds of events. I didn't get her name but this woman was playing at the Solstice Festival beer garden and she sounded pretty good to me...

Seattle Bicycle Sunday

I had to get out of my condo this afternoon so my real estate agent could have an open house.  My friend Diane and I took a bike ride over along the west shore of Lake Washington.  As luck would have it Lake Washington Boulevard was closed south of the I-90 tunnel all the way to Seward Park for the third of this year's Bicycle Sundays.  Check out this Seattle Times article for more information.
